Why The Heavens Withold Dew

Haggai 1:10 “It’s because of you that the heavens withhold the dew and the earth produces no crops.”
My thoughts: We are spiritually deprived in America. We search for belonging in the temporary pleasures of this world and come away dissatisfied. Everything happening in our nation is a reflection of what is transpiring in the church. The Heavens withhold dew because the church withholds surrender. The earth cannot produce crops if the church isn’t making disciples. Could our nation be suffering economically because the church is suffering spiritually? Could the recent rise in America’s death rate be directly related to the spiritual decay of the church? (http://www.nytimes.com/2016/06/01/health/american-death-rate-rises-for-first-time-in-a-decade.html) The Bible makes my statements more than mere assumptions and generalizations. When I read about the Israelite people in the Old Testament, I find that every time God’s people strayed away from Him, the nation suffered dramatically. Illness and famine spread throughout the land (Jeremiah 24:10). A lack of provision hit the people (Haggai 1:6). Disorder and chaos filled the streets (Isaiah 24:10). Violence spread throughout Jerusalem (Ezekiel 7:23). Why does it surprise us that our nation is falling when the church isn’t calling out to God? God will not protect people who safeguard compromise. Our nation doesn’t need the church in its current state. The church needs God in His continual state! The church needs the dew of Heaven! Dew forms when a surface radiates it’s heat and atmospheric vapor condenses at a speed greater than which it can evaporate. The surface begins to cool as it releases heat. If we don’t emit passion, the atmosphere of Heaven will not be manifested in our midst. When we emanate passion, all of Heaven rushes in and meets our radiation as the floodgates open over us. The open floodgates carry a dew from Heaven that will cool our soul. This dew from Heaven brings times of refreshing and helps us align ourselves with the vision of God. Our passion for God cannot evaporate. It causes the Heavens to precipitate. The dew of Heaven will not form in a church that is formless. If we are not definite about our relationship with God, we will be unsure in life. If we aren’t certain about God, we will be uncertain about everything. When will we make up our minds? If we are going to serve God, then why would we withhold something He never intended for us to keep? Spiritual depravity is a result of spiritual complacency. Run from compromise and return to God.
