Galatians 4:19 “Oh, my dear children! I feel as if I’m going through labor pains for you again, and they will continue until Christ is fully developed in your lives.”
My thoughts: Paul describes his spiritual aching as “labor pains” because the churches in the Asia Minor had not yet experienced complete spiritual rebirth. As we learn in Galatians 4, They were still tripping over false teachers and elementary principles. Instead of putting their faith completely in Christ, they were trying to earn favor from God by following laws. Their faith was divided between the Law of Moses and the freedom Jesus came to bring. They believed transformation occurred through following laws, when it only happened through faith in Jesus. When we put our faith in Jesus, the evidence of His perfection is revealed to us as we experience His transforming power. He is more than capable of transforming us. Now, it’s our place to let Him form and shape us into people that reflect His character and nature on the earth. This transformation cannot happen through following rules and regulations. He fully develops in us as we yield our lives to Him. This transformation isn’t a “one man show”, but is a joint effort of our willingness and His sovereignty. There is no doubt of God’s capability. The only doubt is in our desire for Him to transform our hopeless lives into hopeful ones. Let’s join together with God and willingly respond to His power.
