Galatians 1:10 “Obviously, I’m not trying to win the approval of people, but of God. If pleasing people were my goal, I would not be Christ’s servant.”
My thoughts: If my lifestyle pleases God, then that’s all that matters. When people look at me, I don’t want them to see Charles, but instead see God inside of me. May I never get caught looking for man’s approval. Where will man’s approval get me in my relationship with God? I don’t care if people ever approve of the way I live. As long as God approves of my lifestyle, that’s all that matters. Don’t get me wrong, I believe God speaks through people and will use them to direct us according to His will. However, if we spend our lives trying to please other people and look for their approval, we will be miserable. God approves of those who carry out His will, while people approve of those who give them what they want. While God loves everyone, He doesn’t approve of everyone. He is calling us to examine ourselves. Do our lives reflect Him or is our goal to receive man’s approval?
