Isaiah 7:9 “Israel is no stronger than its capital, Samaria, and Samaria is no stronger than its king, Pekah son of Remailiah.Unless your faith is firm, I cannot make you stand firm.”
My thoughts: Our faith will only be firm when it is rooted in someone greater than ourselves. The prophetic word was for King Ahaz, who put his trust in the idolatry of the world, not the One who created the world. This wicked king immediately trembled in fear when he heard that Syria was allied with Israel. He knew that none of his “gods” had the power to save him. He had his faith rooted in the situation, not the One who was greater than the situation. Ahaz could hear the voice of God all he wanted, but until his faith was uprooted from the present circumstances and placed in God, he would remain shaken in fear and doubt. Where is your faith rooted at today? Is it somewhere that will cause you to stand firm? The truth is, the only place our faith should be placed is in God. In Him we can stand firm in the midst of shaking circumstances and trust in the perfection of His character. You will be shaken if you’re faith is shaking. We must put our faith completely in the One who cannot be shaken.. no matter what the situation may be. This is easier said than done. May I be someone that puts this to action in my own life.
