John 15:13,14 “Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends. You are my friends if you do whatever I command.”
My thoughts: Jesus’ relationship with His Father set the example of what our relationship with Him should be like. Too many Christians remain “acquaintances” with God. The truth is, God doesn’t call anyone His “acquaintance”. You are either His friend, or His enemy. If you don’t do what God commands, you aren’t His friend but remain His enemy. This doesn’t mean He loves you any less, just that He won’t invest in you as He would someone that does whatever He asks. Some say, “I don’t have time to do what God asks. My life is too busy and hectic.” The problem isn’t that we don’t have time, but that many of us don’t care for anyone other than ourselves. We begin to see with compassion when we pursue the One who is full of compassion. There is always time to make God a priority. If He is really our “friend”, we will lay down our lives for Him.
