Tough Questions

Matthew 6:2 “Therefore, when you do a charitable deed, do not sound a trumpet before you as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory from men. Assuredly, I say to you, they have their reward.”

My thoughts: Those who seek glory from men lose the great reward God has for them. Doing the “charitable deed” for God isn’t enough for them. Our purpose of doing something good for God should be to  bring Him glory. If someone was trying to help me only so they could be noticed, I would feel disgusted. In the same way, why would God want to partner with someone who cares only for themselves? Some questions God has been asking me lately: If I was a nomad who traveled across the globe bearing fruit for His Kingdom, yet had no place of shelter.. would He be enough for me? If I never had a spouse and didn’t have a family of my own, yet did ministry for His Kingdom without anyone every telling me “job well done!”.. would He be enough? I sure hope I wouldn’t be one to blow the trumpet wanting to bring attention to myself. I sure hope I wouldn’t want others to feel sorry for me. If God is enough for me, then I won’t ever lack.
