A Clear Conscience

1 Timothy 1:5 “The purpose of my instruction is that all believers would be filled with love that comes from a pure heart, a clear conscience, and a genuine faith”.

My thoughts: The part of this verse that sticks out to me is “a clear conscience”. Our conscience is an awareness of our value system that is developed over time by situations and circumstances. When we fail to meet the expectations of our value system, we have a guilty conscience. When we meet the expectations of our value system, we feel a sense of pleasure. My prayer is that my value system is refined by the Word of God so that when I go to make decisions, they are according to God’s will. There is no condemnation in a value system that is refined by the Word of God. The Word of God brings clarity to our conscience.
